Day 1 We are in Isolation

Today my middle child had a cough and my eldest then started coughing. As parents and inline with the government guidance with the Covid-19 we started our first day in isolation.
Our first day of homeschooling.

If you don't know we have 3 children. Year 5, 3 and in foundation.

It's still alot for them to quite grasp and my 5 year old thinks it's fun and school will be back on as normal tomorrow.

For me what this post is about, is to share what we got up to. It may help, it may have ideas for others. Who knows?

First we discussed that we were going to be off and what that would mean.

Then we talked about what we do during a normal school day.

The children then planned activities they would like to do.

We then wrote this on a wipeboard. I also contacted the teachers for any activities that they might need to complete. I also use www.twinkl.co.uk alot as our school does too. They currently have a free offer on.
I think its important to get the children to plan otherwise they will not do it. Make an area that they can not be distracted in. Ensure you can cope with the mess.
I am lucky we have a craft shed to use and the children have their own garden to play in.
During ICT I allowed them to use their tablets and choose a game today that involved a puzzle. They loved this. Problem solving is a great skill but they saw it as a game.

Arts and crafts was lots of fun. Each child worked on something different.
The main thing I would say is mix it up and keep it fresh utilise all that you can. There are so many online resources and you will also be surprised by how much you have at home too.

So far so good, but I am only at day 1!
