Over the years I have been to London many times. Through tourist visits, spending time with the husband whilst he was working there and visiting family.
When we had children we had visited the outskirts with the boys to visit family but had never ventured into the city. The boys had asked to visit the Natural history museum and visit the city where 'Big Bentley' (From Cars 2) is.
Now with a baby girl in tow with us, we were nervous about this trip. Obviously families that live in London do this everyday and its the norm. However we now live in a village and the children are not used to the busy streets. Even I've become used to this laid back lifestyle.
However, we decided over the summer holidays we would venture into London. As we were going down to Legoland we decided to stay a few days longer and spend a day in London. We prepped by having a baby carrier rucksack that we find absolutely amazing. I came across this second hand and we have used it many times already.

It was an early start; a walk and a bus ride to get to a tube station to London. Ziva was amazing in the rucksack nodding off when she needed to. The boys were brave and excited. We stopped for the fun 'i need a wee' breaks many times. Had a long walk to the museum. Whereupon the boys got to see the Dinosaurs. Or 'Dippy' as they recall it. They are big fans and found it amazing although very hot and busy. It was great. We then took a double decker red bus and visited outside Buckingham palace and finally go to see Big Bentley.
The return journey took a lot longer than expected. I think we hit peak time, with some broken lights, cancelled trains and a very long trip back to the hotel, but I have to say the children were amazing and the Turner family survived!! We will definitely go again.
