Well today started off sunny but cold. We hoped for a trip to the park after school but the rain fell and we didn't want a wet bottom. Therefore I decided to plan an after school activity.
Today's is bread shapes.
Now you can do all stages as a family but I decided to do the 'Blue Peter' option of here's one I made earlier so they didn't have to wait long to see the results.
Stages
4. Knead together 30 times.
5. Leave for 10 minutes.
6. Knead together 30 times.
8. Knead lightly and create shapes. We made frogs, beanstalks, plaits and sausages.
9. Preheat oven Gas Mark 8/210c fan assisted.
1. In a bowl combine 500g of strong bread flour, a sachet of fast action yeast and 300ml of warm water.
3. Leave for 10 minutes.
4. Knead together 30 times.
5. Leave for 10 minutes.
6. Knead together 30 times.
7. Place in bowl, cover with cloth and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes. (I put ours near the radiator.)
8. Knead lightly and create shapes. We made frogs, beanstalks, plaits and sausages.
9. Preheat oven Gas Mark 8/210c fan assisted.
10. Leave shapes for 30 minutes on a greased tray.
11.Bake for 20-25 minutes.
