Well it has been 3 years since I gave birth to my first born Rhys. He celebrated his birthday this month and as he is a mad fan on Thomas the Tank Engine, I decided to design his card and cake it that theme.
Using my new cutting machine I had fun creating the letters.
The Thomas cake was fun, I had to create a cake that wouldn’t sink and in his favourite chocolate flavour. I ended up doing 2 cakes to help make the shape. Then I cut them up and put the pieces together with butter icing. I then froze the cake. To accompany Thomas I made a Fat Controller out of icing.
The day before the party I took the cake out for the freezer and began to decorate, I layered a thin coat of butter icing on the cake to stick the large blue icing too. I then got all fiddly and compared many different Thomas toys to do the detailing.
I covered a small chopping board with green icing and made a track out of coloured icing. I added some sugar to a food bag and mixed it with a little black food colouring to create the coal in the train and the track dust. Using my new letter cutters I cut out ‘Rhys’ and added it to the bag of the train. I then made a number 3 and again using the cutters to make ‘today’ on the board.
This year to save the trouble of having to cater and host ourselves we decided to hire a party room at the indoor play centre Jango’s. It was a beautiful day outside so meant to venue was quiet and Rhys managed to have lots of fun with his friends.
